IWF Weight Categories
The International Weightlifting Federation updated weight categories in 2018. These are the categories used at the Olympic Games and all IWF World Championships. Athletes compete at or below the maximum bodyweight for their category, weighed in two hours before competition.
Cutting Weight
Many athletes train and compete close to the top of their category or cut a small amount of weight for competition. Cutting too much hurts your performance on the platform. If you're more than 2-3 kg over a category limit, moving up is usually the better call.
